Absentee: Irfan 20 de julho Racial Harmony Day Classroom ActivitiesRacial Harmony Day Singapore is a nation built by people from many races and cultures. Living in harmony is therefore important and relevant to all Singaporeans, as it will ensure the continued peace and prosperity that we have enjoyed for many years.
Schools commemorate Racial Harmony Day on 21st July. On this day in 1964, Singapore saw racial riots. Racial Harmony Day serves to remind our pupils that social division costs us dearly and that race and religion will always be potential fault-lines in Singapore society. It represents a day for schools to reflect on, and celebrate our success as a harmonious nation and society built on a rich diversity of culture and heritage.
One of the many activities which the children did to commemorate RHD was they learnt about the different ethnic food and they even tried the wrapping of nasi lemak. View the video on an introduction to nasi lemak here as well as a competition between two pupils on who can wrap a nasi lemak in the shortest time.
Activity Objective: Pupils will be able to learn method of wrapping Nasi Lemak.Description: Pupils were given brown wrapping paper and newpaper (which they crumpled to make it into a ball and pretend to be the rice for nasi lemak) tried in their groups to fold a nasi lemak packet.

My June HolidayI have lots of fun during June school holidays. On the morning of 26 May 2007, my parents brought my sister and I to the Jurong Bird Park, we saw different types of birds. We took many pictures of the birds we saw.
At night, my whole family and I went to Aunty Daisy's house for BBQ. My classmate, Shawn, and his mum came too!
On 27 May, my cousins, my sister and I were celebrated my grandma's 63rd birthday at her home in Yishun. My grandpa cooked a lot of delicious food for us to eat. My mum made a strawberry marshmallow cake for my grandma. After the birthday celebration, I went to Suntec City to see fish exhibition and I learnt to make a simple fountain by myself. I like the fountain so much that I asked my mum to buy the materials for the fountain so that I can make one for my home. My parents also brought my sister and I to Jurong Point to watch the Teen Titans show. We also took a photograph with the Teen Titans. The Teens Titans are my favourite cartoons characters.
During one of the days during the holidays, my family went to Junction 8 just to watch Justice League show, the show was very nice. My sister and I enjoyed ourselves very much. There was a show on Surf's Up at Bukit Panjang Plaza, so my parents brought my sister and I there as well. While waiting for the show, we played at the children maze which has lots of balls inside. But the Surf's Up show was very disappointing because there was nothing much to see. We also went to Courts at Tampines and it so happened that on that day, there were some fun games and a show. My sister and I managed to take pictures with Spongebob Squarepants and Sandy.
I really enjoy my holidays so much but now it's time to study hard! Written by Javier Tan Jun Jie
