    After Exams

    To succeed, one needs hardship

    To be celebrated, one needs pressure

    To gain honor, one needs to labor.

    To achieve, one needs to sacrifice and be dedicated.

    Ways To Start A Story

    Here are some ways to start a story.

    Dictation on 4 October 2007, Thursday

    The whole landscape was bathed in the glow of rising sun. Jane woke up to have her breakfast.

    It was a hot and sunny afternoon, the perfect weather for some outdoor activities. Bala and Tim were playing soccer happily in a nearby park.

    It was a beautiful morning with rays of sunlight seeping into Mrs Lim’s living room. She was reading the newspapers sleepily, as she had just woken up.

    Dictation on 9 October 2007, Tuesday

    One hot afternoon, shouts of “Help! Help!” could be heard coming from a high-rise flat in one of the HDB blocks. They were from a woman who was yelling at the top of her voice.

     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    One Sunday morning, John and Peter decided to go cycling. John suggested going to the neighbourhood park and Peter agreed.
    Birds were chirping on a tall tree. The weather was bright and sunny.  Ken was overjoyed as his parents had promised him a trip to the zoo.
    It was the June holidays. Alex decided to call his friends to the basketball court for a game. They agreed to meet up at the basketball court at 11.00 a.m.
    It was a public holiday. My parents brought me to the shopping centre. We went there by bus. I was very excited.
    It was a Saturday afternoon. The sun was shining brightly. Linda and her friends were playing happily with a ball at the park.
    The sun shone brilliantly and a light, playful breeze was in the air. I had just taken a sumptuous lunch cooked by my mother.
    It was the last day of the June school holidays, so father decided to take us to the beach. My brother and I were very excited.
    The sun inched its way up the sky. As I was feeling very bored in the morning, I decided to go roller-blading in a nearby park.
    The drain was swollen with water because of the heavy downpour.  I walked home in the heavy rain without an umbrella. I was drenched and I knew I would catch a cold the next morning. Thunder roared and lightning flashed across the sky.
    The sun was shining brightly in the clear blue sky. The scorching heat made me sweat profusely in the car.
    Children's Day
    Have a great Children's Day 2 Grace! From Mrs Heng.
    My school celebrated Children Day on 28/09/07. During assembly, there are some programs for us to watch. I enjoyed myself a lot when we were asked to guess who the teacher was and when the teacher talked about the occupation they wanted to have when they were still a child.
    Today (28 September 2007), my school teachers held a concert for us because it was Children's Day Celebration!!!!! My friends and I enjoyed the show especially the part when the Malay teacher sang in Mandarin. Mrs Chew, our principal told us two stories to teach us to be good and caring to others, not just our friends but to people who are old. I love the presents that Mrs Kristin Heng gave us. She told us she always wanted to be a teacher when she was young, that's why we got a super teacher now!
    It is a Children's Day school holiday on 1st October 2007 and I’m going to make sure I enjoy myself fully, eat my favourite food, slurpee, ice-creams, junk food, buy Barbie stuff, go Toy r Us, go movie at Vivo City........just dreaming!
    Today was my happiest day in school because the concert for Children's Day was great. The teachers were very hardworking and they put up the best show ever created. I am proud of all my teachers. The best part of the show was when they sang the song which was the High School Musical Song. I love that story. I would like to thank all teachers who have participated or planned this show.
